Assembly Scholarship Program
One-year scholarships are available to students who reside in the
7th Representative District and who have been
accepted by one of the following Illinois state
universities:

Representative Yarbrough has established a scholarship advisory
board to review applications and recommend students
for the scholarships. The scholarships are for
tuition only. Scholarships are for school year
beginning fall of 2009.
Qualifications
To qualify for a scholarship, a student must meet the following
criteria:

in the 7th Representative District |

Acceptance
at the state university of choice as a
full-time student |
|
Evidence
of activity in public and civic affairs |
|
Academic
achievement |

How to
Apply
Applicants must complete a scholarship application form and attach
the required information including transcripts. Two
letters of recommendation must be submitted
separately. The steps outlined below will assist
applicants in assembling all the necessary
documents.
Deadline
Applications, with the required attachments, can be submitted to
Representative Yarbrough's office February 1
- April 1, 2009. All applications must be
received by 4:00 p.m. on
April 1, 2009. Also two letters of
recommendation must be submitted to Representative
Yarbrough’s office by 4:00pm on April 1, 2009.
Scholarships will be awarded by May 1, 2009.

Step 1: Check to be sure you live in the 7th District. Click

search by address.
Step 2: Print out the General Assembly Scholarship Application - click
here. Complete
the application and mail it in with your essay and
official transcripts (see checklist in Step 5).
Step 3: Obtain two letters of recommendation (from teachers, counselors,
employers, etc.), your official transcript (if
you’re a college student, you’ll need both your high
school and college transcripts).
Step 5: Mail in your application to State Representative Karen
Yarbrough 2305 W. Roosevelt Rd. Broadview, IL 60155.
