Yarbrough to Present
CeaseFire with Funding Lawmaker Fought to
Restore |
BROADVIEW, IL - State Rep. Karen
Yarbrough (D-Maywood), joined by
local elected officials and
community leaders, will present the
Maywood/Bellwood/Broadview CeaseFire
antiviolence program with a check
for $500,000 to bring the
organization back to its funding
level before former Gov. Rod
Blagojevich slashed its funds.
“Our local CeaseFire program was one
of the first in the Western Suburbs,
and it more than demonstrated its
worth and value in the number of
lives saved,” Yarbrough said. “This
program lost its funding because of
political games, but I’m glad that
we were able to successfully fight
for its restoration and expansion.”
Data and statistics on the reduction
in violence in CeaseFire zones are
available at

information, contact the Maywood
Mayor’s office at (708) 450-4486.
