Representative
Karen Yarbrough hosts session with
homeowners, lenders and housing reps
to prevent foreclosures
State Representative Karen
Yarbrough hosted a Homeowner Outreach Day on Saturday,
March 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bellwood Village Hall,
3200 Washington in Bellwood. Mortgage loan providers, local
housing assistance groups and state agencies provided
one-on-one help for more than 125 homeowners in risk of
losing their homes.
“Our communities are suffering
because of the rapid increase in foreclosures,”
Representative Yarbrough stated. “We must address this
crisis with immediate and tangible help,” she insisted.
Two state agencies—Illinois
Housing Development Authority and Illinois Department
of Financial and Professional Regulation—collaborated
for this Homeowners Outreach Day in Bellwood. The four-hour
session highlighted one-on-one sessions for homeowners with
lenders and 30-minute workshops on various topics including
how foreclosure works, how to refinance and what to do when
your mortgage is too expensive.
Seven lenders committed to
financing new fixed rate mortgages attended the March 8
event. They included Guaranteed Rate, Signature
Mortgage, Professional Mortgage, Shorebank,
Parn National Bank, PanAmerican Bank, and
National Bank of Commerce.
Yarbrough’s 7th
Representative District includes Oak Park, River Forest and
Proviso Township.
